Class descriptions

  • Terrific Twos (2 1/2 years old)

This is a special class that we offer for our youngest dancers. It introduces our youngest students, who have no previous experience, to the magical world of dance movement through songs, games, fairy tales, and their favorite props. Along with creative dance activities, students will get an introduction to the basics of ballet.

These students must be toilet trained prior to enrolling.

  • Pre-Ballet (3-4 years old)

This introduction to ballet incorporates basic terminology with the positions of the feet, hands, and body. Young dancers will learn foundational techniques in a fun and supportive environment, emphasizing proper posture, coordination, and musicality. Students will develop a love for ballet through creative movement and imaginative play while building confidence and discipline.

This class is perfect for aspiring ballerinas to take their first steps into the enchanting world of dance.

  • Basic Ballet (5-6 year old)

This class will follow the format of a ballet class, including basic barre exercises and center practice. Children will also demonstrate skills and combinations traveling across the floor.

  • Ballet Levels (I –IV)

The foundation of all dance forms. Body placement, flexibility, balance, alignment, strength, and technique are achieved through barre and center floor work.

  • Level I (6-8 years old)

Physical discipline, general body awareness, and control coordinate with elementary techniques and terminology.

  • Level II (9-12 years old)

Understanding the relationship between music, rhythm, and controlled movement with proper ballet technique.

  • Level III (Teen/Adult)

New and more complex material will be taught at an accelerated pace. Students will begin to learn basic ballet history and develop a knowledge and great appreciation of the great ballets, classical music, and famous dancers.

  • Level IV (Advanced)

An advanced class combines skills from previous-level classes and correlates steps to lengthy and complex combinations with correct technique, extensive terminology, and knowledge of the art of ballet itself.

  • Ballet/Tap Combo (Ages 3 – 8 years old)

This class is designed for children with little or no previous dance experience. These classes will teach the student coordination skills, musicality, basic terminology, and the proper use of muscle development. Children will gain self-expression and confidence while preparing for the next level of dance.

  • Tap/Jazz Combo (Ages 5 – 12 years old)

A rhythmic combination of technical movements and style, tap focuses on recalling intricate foot steps incorporated with upper body grace. Timing, musicality, and rhythm are concentrated during class. Tap can be performed with or without music accompaniment while showcasing technical skills and entertainment.

  • Jazz (Ages 5 - Adult)

Jazz dance is a uniquely American art form. A variety of styles will be taught, from primitive to classic jazz. This class concentrates on proper technique, placement, strength, and style as well as increasing flexibility and muscle tone.

  • Hip-Hop (Ages 5 - Adult)

This class is great for the student who just wants to come & get funky as well as the serious dancer looking to improve their hip-hop skills, but even beginners will have a blast in this high-energy dance class which introduces basic hip-hop and the latest trends.
